Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get My Dog Down

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get My Dog Down

Share

We were so lucky.  December was almost completely dry. It was practically springlike. I got to walk Misha almost every day. Then January came along and the storm door opened.  Mind you, we don’t have to deal with the snow like the rest of the country.  But, we’ve already had more rain and fog than in December, and we’re only half way through January.  Another series of storms is approaching for the rest of the week. As you know Misha…

My Dog is Getting Used to People

My Dog is Getting Used to People

A funny thing happened on the way to Misha’s 8th birthday. Something I really didn’t even notice. She began to lose her fear of people. My Dog is Afraid of Strangers So, this is how Misha usually greets people… She’s terrified of strangers. When meeting someone new, she would not sniff their shoes like a normal dog. Fireworks are No Joke for Dogs!

Fireworks are No Joke for Dogs!

I’m not sure people realize how traumatizing fireworks are for dogs.  To a dog, those loud booms and whistles sound as if the walls are coming down around them.  Their instinct is to flee and many of them do. Sedatives Help For the dog…not you!  I gave Misha a sedative for the 4th of July.  It really helped.  But, the fireworks have gone on far beyond the holiday.  They start a week before the 4th and people are still shooting…

Fireworks terrify my dog.   My neighbors have been setting them off for a week.  I’ve been finding my dog under the bed, the desk, the dresser, behind the TV stand…anywhere she can cram her small body. It’s sad. I’ve written in the past of how I give Misha a sedative on the 4th of July to help calm her nerves.  She relaxes while World War III plays out in our neighborhood.  Without it, she runs around the house with a…

My Little Dog is No Longer Obsessed with Eating Tan Bark

My Little Dog is No Longer Obsessed with Eating Tan Bark

These three photos may not look like much.  A dog walking in the back yard.  But, do you notice anything?  My dog is “unleashed”. No big deal, right?  Not for a regular dog.  But, for Misha…well, this is a sign that she is finally growing up and finally gotten over one of her worst behavior problems. You see, Misha was just a little over 1 year old when our lives got stressful.  She transitioned from puppy to one year old…
