Fireworks are No Joke for Dogs!

Fireworks are No Joke for Dogs!

I’m not sure people realize how traumatizing fireworks are for dogs.  To a dog, those loud booms and whistles sound as if the walls are coming down around them.  Their instinct is to flee and many of them do. Sedatives Help For the dog…not you!  I gave Misha a sedative for the 4th of July.  It really helped.  But, the fireworks have gone on far beyond the holiday.  They start a week before the 4th and people are still shooting…

Fireworks terrify my dog.   My neighbors have been setting them off for a week.  I’ve been finding my dog under the bed, the desk, the dresser, behind the TV stand…anywhere she can cram her small body. She’s never had a treat ball beat her before. So, she played with it and played with…

Our Caring Canine Companions Several years ago, I read an article in Dog Fancy magazine about a woman who was receiving chemotherapy.  Every day she came home from her session and went to bed, too fatigued to jump back into her routine. While she slept, her dogwould get all his tennis balls and gently place them around her body, careful never to wake her.  Tennis balls were his favorite toy and he must have figured she was in need of…

Wrapping Up the Holidays with My Dog

Wrapping Up the Holidays with My Dog

It has been awhile since I’ve blogged.  I apologize.  The second half of 2016 kept throwing one thing after another at Misha and me. I got food poisoning with effects that lingered for several weeks.  Misha was attacked by neighbors cats…twitce.  Windows 10 updates prevented me from using the internet for anything else for almost a full month.  Misha had a blister on her back that was slow to heal.  My hard drive crashed.  Misha got fleas and we took…
